"How much do you rely on your bad feelings and dreams?" by Baran

You sleep one night and in your dream you see something horrible (like death) happen to a not so close relative which you haven't heard of for a long time, then you wake up and in a few hours time during a phone call you find out that that person has broken her arm in 3 places in a bad accident. How much do you trust your feelings or dreams next time? Do you take them seriously at all? What if you experience this more and more, not every time you have a bad feeling about something or someone it turns out to be true, but it happens often. Then what will you do if you keep dreaming that for example your partner is not faithful to you, even though you haven't seen anything abnormal? Do you start searching for evidence, or interpreting all his/her actions or words in a way to confirm your doubts? Or do you ignore your nightly tortures? Now if you believe there is a relation between your feelings and what happens or is happening in real life how do you define that relationship? Do you think that you are connected in some way to the world so that you become aware of things you really don't know, or do you think because you are creating that image, as a consequence it really happens. A common belief among many: how ever you imagine your life or future, it will be like that. In other words, you are the one who is shaping the events, unconsciously at times. I remember this example from one of Gustav Jung's books: a young lady has this repeating nightmare about being raped in a park similar to the place she usually goes for running I guess. Finally she gets sick of it, she comes to see Jung to find out what is the meaning of her dream, I don't remember the details, but I recall that she finally dies after being raped in a park. And I remember Jung writing in his book that she was kind of calling for that event with her nightmares and the fact that she continued to go to places like parks and... alone, putting herself in danger or so. To me this is scary, maybe because of the absolute power it gives you over your destiny, but at the same time at least this gives you the chance to "do" something to change those outcomes you fear. But do we always have these feelings of awareness before the event takes place? At least not for me, then how can we discuss the time element or the order here? The other night ABC was showing a program about "Luck" on 20/20. They interviewed some very lucky men and women, and sort of reached this conclusion, that you can create your own luck. One of them even said she uses this same "imaging" technique, where she imagines the things she really wants with detail, and she even prepares herself for them, and they happen, as simple as that. So are we responsible for being unlucky too? When you are going to sit for a big exam, and you just feel this is going to be a bad day for you, because you have this "feeling" are you creating your own failure? Back to my first question when you have a bad feeling or an unpleasant sense of awareness about something or even a bad dream, how much do you really believe it? I intentionally did not ask about good and pleasant ones, because I think people believe in their pleasant dreams or feeling or awareness more. Maybe as a natural reaction we like to believe them to a more degree, even if we have our doubts, just because they are pleasant.

I have premonitions once a year or so. So, 80% of the time, it is just a bad dream and once a year, I dream of someone's death and that person ends up dead or at least in the hospital!

I don't know the answer to your question. I wish I could figure it out, myself!

marvelous twist of concepts, inward and outward!

I don't know much about premonitions. I find it hard to believe we can predict somebody's death.

I've heard about "Law of Attraction" movie. Haven't seen it. Is it any good?

Planning for our lives and more than that, trying to picture our goals more and more should help to achieve those goals. But I still believe in natural limitations and physical facts.

My only premonitions was repeatedly dreaming about me saying goodbye to my friends in the last year of elementary school. Then I got admitted to Farzanegan school and left my old neighborhoods and my old friends. But I think that was me yearning for a change, which is a big part of my personality no matter how much I miss the things I leave behind.

I have seen the movie " Law of attraction" it was not my taste at all but I know many people that like it. It simply says what baran said here. if you think a bout good things and your dreams then they will happen.

I dont beleive in this or in nightmares and stuff but I do beleve in 2 major below things:

1- The world has many unknown things. we should accept that there are many things about the life that we dont know.

2-You always feel the way you think.

I really like the second rule! by changing your thoughts you definatly will feel different in a same situation. and it is amazing. So if you think bad you are going to feel bad and feel that these things happening to you are bad. I think the happening it self dose not matter as much as your feelings about it.
